Families Together Program | Parent Education Program (PEP)

Offers an intensive, short-term in-home counseling and skill-building program that works with families whose children are at risk of an out-of-home placement. Program services are carefully designed to instill hope and structured to focus on family strengths while respecting the uniqueness of the family's values, beliefs and traditions. Provides services that are flexible and accessible 24 hours. Aim is to maintain family unity, teach skills that will promote positive changes within the family structure, and is goal-oriented to meet a family's basic needs and help the family remain intact.

Positive Solutions for Families | Bath Area Family Resource Center (BAFRC)

Provides a parent education program to promote children’s social and emotional skills, understand their problem behaviors, and use positive approaches to help children learn appropriate behavior. These sessions will give parents general information on key strategies that may be used with all children. All facilitators are trained through Center for the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning.

Teen Expectant / New Parent Assistance

Prevention Services | Catholic Charities Steuben/Livingston - Bath Site

Provides various evidence based programs to youth, adolescents, parents, school districts and community members to help in prevention of substance use. Offers active parenting programs, teen prevention and intervention, bullying and violence prevention, and other programs as requested. Also provides screening for referrals for drug, alcohol or gambling addictions. Includes a resource library for community members and professional training opportunities.

Supporting Home and Parenting Enrichment Program (SHAPE) | Kinship Family and Youth Services - Yates County Site

Provides in-home education and support to parents with children at-risk of out-of-home placement because of neglect or abuse. Staff visits family in their homes, providing individualized instruction tailored to the parents strengths and needs such as providing a safe and healthy environment for their child or children, child development and parenting skills, conflict management strategies, goal-setting, and accessing community resources.

Maternal Child Health Program | Chemung County Health Department - Main Site

Offers home visits to pregnant women for prenatal health education and guidance. Facilitates connections to additional programs and services that may help the individual through the pregnancy including referring agencies that can help in enrolling into Medicaid for uninsured pregnant individuals. Offers home visits by Certified Lactation Counselors following delivery to assist the breastfeeding mother with issues or concerns.

It focuses on ways to comfort baby and how to deal with the ups and downs of being a parent. Nurturing Parenting for Teen Parents is an evidenced-based program created by Stephen J. Bavolek Ph.D. Parenting is hard at any age, but especially for teens and other very young parents. Become a more nurturing parent to your child. Help your child to grow up with positive self-worth, use discipline and rewards that promote positive self-regard, ages and stages of development, how to have fun with your child, how to grow as a family, and so much more!

Protective Parenting Skill-Building Therapy Group | Adult Mental Health Services Clinic Satellite (AMHS)

Provides a supportive, psycho-educational, skill development-based therapy group for parents and guardians of children of all ages who witnessed, experienced, or are at risk for various types of abuse (physical, emotional, sexual), in order to reduce the parents and guardians distress related to the child abuse experience, and to increase the parents and guardians protective abilities through increased knowledge about abuse and the impact of trauma, and the development and practice of parenting skills. This group serves families in which children have been identified as at risk for abuse and neglect, and for whom court-ordered parenting education has been recommended.

Provides Nurse-Family Partnership free maternal and child health services in Chemung County for first-time mothers.
