Prepared child birth classes and other educational experiences prospective mothers, their partners and siblings for childbirth.

Offers integrated services to prepare young children for successful learning through four critical services areas including nursing home visits, early care and education, parent education and healthcare. Programming is offered through a collaborative effort of many agencies throughout the county.

Assists individuals with disabilities and their families in the preparation of guardianship petitions. Can act as the primary guardian, standby guardian, or alternate guardian. Guardianship can cover DNR orders, health care proxies, supplemental needs trusts, wills, financial planning, and special needs planning for parents of children with developmental disabilities.

Accepts residential, commercial, industrial and construction and demolition waste. Also accepts many recyclable materials, most at no charge. Does not provide hauling services nor process some types of materials. The landfill accepts residential, commercial, industrial and construction and demolition waste. Also available is an electronics recycling program.

Provides building code information as well as ensured local building codes are enforced including taking and investigating reports of violations. Issues building permits.

Provides assistance in understanding Medicare, Medigap, policies and planning, private insurance, retiree and employer insurance, EPIC, Medicare Part D, the Medicare Savings Program and basic Medicaid eligibility.

Provides service to town including: securing domestic dogs who have strayed from their homes; enforcing laws such as vaccination requirements; investigation of abandoned animals or cruelty, complaints regarding dogs who have bitten someone or are otherwise making nuisances of themselves. Most animal control programs are unable to handle nuisance wildlife, which should be referred to department of environmental conservation.

Offers monthly bus passes and bus tokens for purchase. Monthly passes can be used an unlimited number of times to ride public transportation during the month that it was purchased. Each bus token is valid for one boarding.

Provides comprehensive hospital services. Emergency room care available.

Prosecutes all criminal cases in more than 50 local criminal courts, as well as within the county court system.

Provides building code information as well as ensured local building codes are enforced including taking and investigating reports of violations. Issues building permits.

Investigates and intervenes on behalf of adults who are unable to act on their own behalf, manage their own affairs, or who are in immediate danger. Responds and investigates reports of adult and child abuse or neglect. Ongoing supervision for those at risk of abuse is also available.

Provides individual, marital/couple, and family counseling services. Master level therapists are trained to address many emotional issues including depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, parent-child difficulties, personal adjustment and stress related issues.

Provides air conditioning units to eligible individuals with documented medical conditions that are worsened by extreme heat.

Provides free pregnancy test, free coordinated access to limited ultrasound with positive test, education on fetal development and referrals to child birth classes, pregnancy options education, medical care, legal assistance and local community services.

Provides a national hotline and online chat center for veterans at risk of homelessness and their families.

Provides crisis intervention answering services for individuals who abuse alcohol or are at risk of abuse with the aim of defusing the immediate crisis, ensuring the person's safety, and providing information about alternatives the person may explore to begin recovering. Home intervention may be available depending on the circumstances.

Provides parenting education with a therapeutic aspect for families that have been identified as at-risk for child abuse/neglect, foster care placement or residential treatment.

Provides in-person mental health crisis intervention and support services within the home or community. Services include immediate access to treatment services designed to stabilize crisis situations, enhancing skills and knowledge to reduce environmental and social stressors, and connections to programs and services.

Offers a crisis intervention hotline to victims of rape and sexual assault. Also provides clients advocacy, transportation, court accompaniment and preparation, and individual and group counseling. Provides to the community education and primary prevention services. Crime Victim Compensation assistance through the NYS office of Victim Services.

Partners with VITA tax sites to help prepare taxes virtually. Trained and IRS-certified volunteers at local community organizations will prepare taxes.

Provides information regarding property taxes. Helps individuals determine if they may be eligible for a tax exemption program and processes applications.

Provides opportunities to compete in a variety of individual and team sporting, fitness and fun events. The games are held in May of each year.
