Hears cases involving vandalism, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, traffic violations, and other defenses that happen within the village or town. Accepts payments for restitution or fines ordered through the court.

Offers space to the public for recreational use. Most parks provide picnic pavilions, trails and playgrounds and follow a carry-in, carry-out policy for trash. Pools available at two locations as well as an ice rink. City also sponsors many youth and adult sports leagues and camps, tot programs, Arts and Crafts programs, and community special events such as Kid's Day and the Great Pumpkin Hunt that are available at the various parks.

Also offers Home Safety Assessment to identify fall risks in the home.

Community Supports and Day Services are designed to provide enriching opportunities for people with developmental disabilities to enhance their social skills and their independence. Programs are responsive to new and changing interests of people receiving supports and their families. The menu of available supports focus on social skills, daily living skills, wellness, technology, music, and the arts. Participants are fully included in their communities through recreation and experiential learning.

Provides a wide range of supervised outdoor and STEM activities aimed at building leadership skills and self-esteem. Also have available summer camp opportunities. Girls can join through troops, camp, single events or multi-week program series.

Provides seniors who cannot afford the expense of protective under garments (depends and chucks). We purchase and deliver to the clients at no cost to the client. We do make some exceptions to the age qualifications if there are medical issues until the client can get into another state or federal program. All client information is confidential and not shared with any other agency.

Provides information and services to family, friends and person experiencing Opioid/Heroin related issues. Also supports providers, key partners, stake holders and other persons experiencing Substance use Disorders. Offers immediate response services including overdose prevention, treatment and community recovery support for addiction to prescription opioids and illicit drugs such as heroin

Provides caregivers a temporary break from care giving, while the person with Alzheimer’s disease continues to receive care in a safe and supportive environment. Scholarships are available.

Provides a free cell phone and airtime each month for income-eligible customers.

Provides assessment and individual, family, and group mental health therapies for school-aged children and their families at schools within the Elmira School District. This program is offered in partnership with the Elmira School District, Chemung County Children's Integrated Services (CIS) and Chemung County.

Offers a group where members share their own experience, strength, and hope working together to learn a better way of life, to find happiness whether the alcoholic is still drinking or not. Online groups are also available.

Provides free diapers, household items, furniture, dishes, pots and pans, utensils, linens and towels, bed frames and other items, personal hygiene items. Specific items available varies depending on what has been donated. Donations accepted at Community Action Angels Warehouse.

Provides building code information as well as ensured local building codes are enforced including taking and investigating reports of violations. Issues building permits.

Provides mediation and arbitration services for community, parent/child, divorce, custody and visitation, and juvenile issues. A neutral third person, the mediator, facilitates discussions between the parties. The mediator helps participants develop or refine their communication skills, and teaches school children techniques for resolving disagreements. Mediators are trained conflict resolution volunteers.

Provides for the secure detention of minors who have been arrested.

Offers a telephone-based and cell phone emergency response system that links an individual at home to 24-hours a day, seven days a week emergency assistance. The system consists of a home communicator unit attached to the subscriber's telephone, a personal call button worn by the subscriber and the Emergency Response Center located in the Emergency Department.

Provides anonymous support groups for those interested in recovering from alcoholism. Meeting types vary from open, closed, speakers, discussion, big book, smoking, non-smoking, men's, women's, 12+12 study, institutional, podium. Also includes internet based support groups.

Provides income-eligible households with rental subsidies to cover rental costs in excess of 30 percent of household income. No emergency assistance available. Voucher recipients and their families also receive case management, life skills development, referrals and advocacy services.
